BREAKING NEWS EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT

MARCH 23rd 7PM CAPITOL THEATER

Fli River Anglers (FRA), the Flint River’s own Fishing Community, is pleased to announce an upcoming series of events at the beautiful Capitol Theater in Downtown Flint, Michigan.   With generous support from Randy Wise AutomotiveBeacon & Bridge Markets, The Capitol Theater and YOU, we will welcome the 16th Annual Fly Fishing Film Tour to Flint on Wednesday March 23.

WATCH THE FILM TRAILER

The screening of the film starts at 7pm on March 23.   Doors will open at 6pm.  We will have awesome raffle items, including 4 brand new fly reels (for real!) from Orvis and Lamson.   Local brews, cocktails and wine will be available for purchase.   Come out and support your fishing club.  Bring your crew and show them the awesome Capitol Theater.

Our friends from one of the nation’s leading conservation groups, Back Country Hunter’s & Anglers (BHA) will be on hand to help celebrate this exciting evening in Flint.   Attendees will be able to learn more about FRA and BHA and what both groups are doing to help our environment and preserve access to public waters and lands.

Even more exciting is that FRA will host, free of charge, a private advance screening of the Film for hundreds of school kids from north Flint.  This experience is being provided in partnership with our great partners at the Boys and Girls Club of Flint.  FRA and the Boys and Girls spent a special day together last year where the basics of Fly Fishing were taught to an enthusiastic group of kids.   All the kids went home with new skills and all the gear needed to start fly fishing.  For a short video of the “Kids on the Fly” event visit:  https://fliriveranglers.com/upcoming-events

About the The Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T):  The F3T is the largest fly fishing film event of its kind. Come for the action and stay for the giveaways and camaraderie that will feed your fishing addiction. WHAT IS FRA?

OUR MISSION IS SIMPLE, YET ASPIRATIONAL

•IMPROVE ANGLER ACCESS TO LOCAL RIVERS:   If you have tried to fly fish any local river you know why this is important.   It is also critical for river conservation to have anglers in the stream.  Millions of dollars are being poured into area rivers, primarily the Flint River, and anglers need to be involved.

•INCREASE ACCESS TO ANGLING FOR UNDERSERVED YOUTH:  "My dad fished" should not be a pre-requisite to being an angler and enjoying the great outdoors.   All fisherman/women have an obligation to pay it forward.

•BRING HUNTING AND FISHING CONSERVATION GROUPS TOGETHER TO

MAXIMIZE OUR IMPACT:  There are numerous groups covering hunting, fishing and conservation, they all have similar goals.   Unfortunately, they exist in silos and do not celebrate their common purpose together.  FRA and the existing resources of Downtown Flint offer a unique opportunity to bring these philosophically aligned groups together, if only for a day.

In case you were wondering, the FRA volunteers in chief are:

Ryan Thompson, Jeremy Piper and Adam Hafajee.

FINANCIAL INFO:

Where's my $40 go?   We use all membership money to purchase membership merch.  All of the FRA service projects, KIDS ON THE FLY, river improvement, etc. will be funded by separate donations from members like you, corporate donations and friends of FRA.   Those funds will be raised from time to time and be paid directly to the Flint River Watershed Coalition who is our 501c3 fiduciary.  The FRWC is a great organization and they also benefit from FRA restricted donations.

FLI RIVER ANGLERS IS A PROUD CHAPTER OF THE FLINT RIVER WATERSHED COALITION AND IS CONSIDERED A NOT-FOR-PROFIT GROUP UNDER SECTION 501(C)(3) OF THE TAX CODE.   CHARITABLE DONATIONS TO FRA CAN BE MADE DIRECTLY TO THE FLINT RIVER WATERSHED COALITION.   PLEASE CONSIDER PROVIDING THIS IMPORTANT SUPPORT.  YOU CAN DONATE TODAY HERE, MAKE SURE YOU REFERENCE FLI RIVER ANGLERS.
